I survived orientation!

It's been a looooooooooong time since my last post, hence, to compensate ; a long post this time!

Started uni life in IMU on the 23rd of August which by the grace of the Lord, they called my daddy on the Friday before that to confirm my seat there.

23rd Aug- was a sea of new faces and a batch of about 230+ students from all of the country and some from overseas as well. A little bit overwhelming compared to MCKL. Got the white new labcoat and attended loads of talks from the dean, student representitive council, etc and then realised that Elizabeth, Wing Yee and Mei Chen from college was there as well! Turns out I'm not so alone after all! Thank God

24th Aug - the whole batch was split into 12 groups for the orientation purpose which at first seemed very intimidating cause you look at your schedule and you realise you're going back at 11pm and 10pm on most nights for the 2 weeks of orientation and you begin to think "What did I get myself into?" Oh crap! Again, I was proved wrong! The first night had seen us through a dry part and wet part which included face painting, water splashing, starch and saw dust throwing by seniors in the basement carpark and I volunteered to drink some weird drink which actually cured my sore throat!- ingredients in the drink include : shrimp and banana- so you know how weird it tastes!

25th Aug- had some talks in the morning and then had Indoor Treasure Hunt in the evening which required us to run throughout the whole of IMU without lights- guided by our seniors and torchlights and had to go to different stations looking for clues and some we had to play games, dance, answer questions. It was alot of fun! and required alot fo trust among group members- hence bonded with some of them.

all of us- Group 12- Rambo! after the treasure hunt! Juniors and seniors.

on the 26th we had a break from programmes

and on the 27th - my fave thing to date- Dress Code 1.
which we intially perceived as some lecturer coming to give us a talk on how to adhere to IMU dresscode bla bla bla- again proved us thankfully wrong! It was an event which required us to dance- on stage! infront of 230+people! Each group was given specific themes and props- so my group was given the task of doing cheerleading and had to incoporate 5 pillows into our routine! With some practice and absolutely no background whatsoever in dancing and cheerleading- we did a spectacular job! and had loads cheering us on! Which was phenomenal! and this event is when true group spirit prevailed and again bonding between our seniors and us juniors!

Shaz and I waiting for our turn. I learned to make pompoms! yeay!

28th- Outdoor treasure hunt. 3 words that can accurately describe it : Dirty, smelly and tiiring!

Selena from Singapore, Shaz and I resting...

Sharon, Cholophyll Joe, John, Selena, Shaz and I

my next fave event was on the following Thursday, 2nd September : Variety night where we had to act out scenes from a movie that was given to us- we got Triple X. I've never seen the movie before but I think we did an okay job and I had the part of a lady ninja who loves to silently kill. But the best was yet to come cause after our performance, our group seniors had prepared a self cooked meal for us- Spaghetti with sausage which was super! according to them, its a passed down tradition of Group 12. and I learned to speak Mandarin!

On Friday- Finale night. I never thought I would be sad when orientation is over. But I was. We had final prep-ing to do and help support our solo act- Calvin aka small eyes. And for once the seniors performed for us instead which was fun. food was awesome. Ciaoed in between to have emo talk... I cant believe I say this- but I actually miss orientation!

From 6th Sept onwards had normal classes and lectures. And in wet lab I offered to allow my labmates to prick my finger and observe my awesome blood under the microscope! I have pretty blood! So far everything is good and also we have to learn abit of Psychology which is awesome as well.

During the holidays went for shopping and got few more blouses to wear to uni! I miss jeans so  bad....

Next week is hopefully going to be fun and meaningful as we plan, fundraise and go to our Charity Home Visit!

Till next time...Ciao.

Uni life

started med school- IMU last Monday! I can finally call myself a med student *cheers* The first person in the family!

this 2 weeks is full orientation..like kao kao orientation. coming back at 12am type, getting wet, fishy smells, painted faces, flour and starch on hair type. I admit it is tough..but so fun at the same time. Weirdly. haha.

Got assigned to group 12 which I believe is the awesomest group with the most semangat- clearly shown when we screamed our lungs out and all of us kinda lost our voice abit. Also had a performance to do onstage! cheerlead + dance routine, something I've never done before, and had to do as a group in front of 400 students approx. scary times but our group 12 seniors were the best in offering support and cheering for us- as a result we finished in the top 6 placing!

Will update more later.. Selamat Hari Merdeka!

Realisation

Talking to Gaya the other night made me realise something, I have 2 sides- which makes me very unpredictable.

For instance,

I love Chinese food, but I also love hot spicy food which makes me gulp down cups of water soon afterward.

I love dark colours like black, blood red and navy blue but I also love white and pale pink

I love mamak stall food bring on the teh tarik and roti canai any time, at the same time I totally love steak

I love watching action thrillers wthich involves a lot of killing, mass murders and loads of blood, at the same time I love romantic movies with lovey-dovey stuff and romantic lines.

I love watching gymnastics on tv and just be amazed by how they move but I also love soccer and how they run move and strategize on the field.

But I think Ryan puts everything in one sentence complete-
I love Chinese, Australian, American, Spanish, French, Indian, British guys. That indeed I am extremly unpredictable.

On the other side, working for parents is never easy- especially when you're not paid to draw all their  graphs, recheck their schedules, make breakfast and coffee early morning and edit their powerpoint presentations absolutely free of charge and book air asia flights for my aunts and mum's friends. Dad insists I get paid by me having to eat their cooking on weekdays and occasionally weekends.

Anyways, football mania has started again. Community Shield was an absolute dissapointment with Chelsea seeming so uninspired and leading to a very bad result- 3-1. Bet this season is going to be THE season to watch.. Will Man U regain their edge or will their young players prove their inexperience?
Will Chelsea take the trophy for the second time in a row or have they totally lost it?
Will Arsenal rise to the plate and send a shocker?
Will Torres work the magic and will Liverpool succed?
Will Man City's big million dollar multi spending spree reflect in the quality of their game?

Ah...football mania is soooooooooooo back!

Of renovations and family reunions

So, earlier this week, heard some weird nioses from the kitchen. *crak crak*. and suddenly out of nowhere, the kitchen tiles began to fall off the wall. Which was insanely weird and scary. About 20 pieces just fell... just like that and broke. So, we had to call the contractor and had 3 whole walls of kitchen tiles replaced. Apparently the condo developer didnt do it right the first time around, so we had to suffer the lazy developer's consequences, 10 years later. Just thank God nobody was hurt. Renovation went on for 3 long whole days with a whole lot of banging everywhere. And now the house is filled with dust.

Moving on to the happier things, my cousins finally made it to Malaysia and was pretty excited to see them. Had dinner buffet at the Hilton's PJ last Saturday. The food spread and choices were awesome! I award 5 stars- especially since they had a chocolate fountain and the ice kacang machine and ice cream with more then 8 topping and incredible satay. But tastewise wasnt all that yumyum. Overall, I credit 8 stars. Had a fun time laughing together and also another great deal of time being told that I am now so 'old' by my cousins. Seriously, is 19 too old??? Anyways, after all the makan makan and the talk and laugh, reached home at 1am and immediately fell flat on the bed.

Then, on Friday, was our Cousins Day Out (CDO) as the 3 of us headed to Mid Valley. Had awesome Japanese lunch! and then went the bellies were full, we went for a lil shopping then went bowling for a good 2 hours (my bowling is improving!) and watched Salt (which I give rating 8 stars. The ending was a lil confusing) and then headed over to Gardens for snacks and ice cream and a whole lot of eating in between. It's a relief to know someone can actually rival my hunger level- my darling cousin brother. Sat in borders, read all sorts of funny books, disturbed a sleeping old man and then headed home at 8pm. Was certainly one of the best days of my life. Eventually I bonded too much with my cousin bro which made my cousin sis jealous in the end.

Sent them packing and said a tearful goodbye as they headed back to Florida.

My cousin sis- Monisha. Who is mature way beyond her years and is a total shopaholic and chic lit books-aholic.

My cousin bro- Sujay. My partner in crime, comedian and the younger brother I always wished I had and my bestest friend in the whole world.

And now, back to normal life...

A Day Out

Yesterday, after boring days of staying at home, I went out with Gaya.

Went to college in the morning to collect the deposit cheque- which btw still isnt ready after 1 week plus! seriously.. how long does it take to come up with a RM500 cheque??!. Anyways, went to say hello to the library aunty and accidently got ourselves helping her rearrange magazines on the shelves. We did 2 shelfs, labelled them and excused ourselves quickly. Then we bumped into Madam Wong and also talked to Miss Angeline.

Later we headed over to Mid Valley by bus to watch :

I give it 10 ginormous stars. The best movie I've ever watched. Its a different type of movie. Simple theory behind it is just to perform Inception- plant a thought or dream in someones mind, enter the persons mind and well, steal the dream. But the way the story unfolds, the different places in the world, graphics is beyond spectacular- if they had this in 3D this would be the bomb. I wouldnt mind watching this movie again. Although the ending of the movie has drawn a wide speculation on the net among movie critics- my opinion it ended well as I like endings with a lil air of mystery.

Leonardo di Caprio- my favourite actor managed to pull this movie off again exuding nothing but charisma and intensity thorughout the movie (and looking very smart wearing those expensive tasteful suits). I always believed Titanic was his best role. But this surpasses that. Gaya was sceptical intially about the movie, but my enthusiasm for this movie (and of course the brilliant actor) and dragging her into the cinema paid off as she enjoyed it too.

Later we ate Burger King and went to chill at her place till my dad came. Talked a whole lot, made a couple of vows to each other, laughed still stomaches ached and headed home. Overall, a great day!

Cant wait for our Alpha gathering!
