Post WC syndrome

I have self diagnosed myself- Post World Cup Syndrome

Symptoms : Keep  clicking channels to find any more news on WC
                   Praying for more repeat matches to be shown
                   Clicking on the sports tab
                   Feeling empty and as if life has been sucked out

I guess it must be pretty serious cause my mum even texted me to find out how I was coping without football.

So, I've been listening to music whole day long and watching 80's sitcoms on youtube.

and now, back to more music and tv sitcoms.

Now that World Cup is over, I feel a big hole in my life after A-levels. All this while I have been watching, dreaming, reading, shouting, dancing, screaming, fighting about the most beautiful game on Earth.

Stayed up to watch every match that I could. Had a dad-daughter bonding time throughout this one month and finally Spain was crowned the champions. Although I may say that the game could have gone better. The yellow cards to the Dutch flying out to every player except the goal keeper and Sneidjer was a mistake and arguably a contreversial offside goal. Nevertheless after one month of celebration, Spain won. Congrats. Not one of my favourites- yet I do think that they were good. One of the best. Not the best, in my opinion.

To me, the 10 players that really shined and caught my eye this World Cup :

10. Ryan Nelsen (New Zealand)

Playing for Blackburn Rovers, Captain of NZ All-Whites team. The best player of the Kiwi team. Good showmanship and an inspiration to his time. And also the only team who didnt lose a single match in this World Cup. Not bad for a country known for rugby and sheep.

9. Marek Hamshik (Slovakia)

At only 23 of age , captain of Slovakia with a great skill and I must say a budding talent. Fun to watch. Chelsea FC should consider taking him- seriously.

8. Edinson Cavani (Uruguay)

Also 23, fast runner, alert, focused, hard working, skillfull player. Lovingly known as El Matador among Uruguay fans for his attacking skills.  

7. Fernando Torres (Spain)

The 26 year old golden boy who everyone adores and assisted in the win. Exciting to watch, humble and also cute. Plays for Liverpool.

6. Luis Fabiano (Brasil)

The 30 year old Brazilian pride and glory. Love watching him in action. The minute he gets the ball, its magic all the way. Very fast runner and accurate striking- lethally amazing.

5. Diego Forlan (Uruguay)

31 year old wearing the famed number 10 jersey and Captain of the Uruguay side. Hungry for goals and an inspiration to the team. Performed poorly at Man U before moving over to Villareal.

4. Arjen Robben (Netherlands)

26 year old mastermind in my opinion. Delivers spectacular shots. Amazing showmanship. Entertains everytime he gets the ball. Certainly one of my most favourite players of all time. Only downfall is he is easily frustrated. Used to play for Chelsea till the 2007 (i think) move to Bayern Munich- another fave club of mine.

3. Miroslav Klose

What can I say- my first football crush with his blue grey eyes full of determination- Klose has always always been my fave. 32 years old and probably his last World Cup ( I hope not) promises beautiful strikes every game. He is a man's man- never shouting at anyone, quiet in person yet dangerous on the field.

2. Kaka. My dream guy in every sense- pyhsically, mentally, spiritually. One of the finest players. The perfect team player at age 28. Won the Golden Ball award and Man of the Match for final against USA in 2009. Brazil is incomplete without this superstar playmaker. I still hope that I get to see him in person one day.

1. My latest sayang. At 21 years old- already winning the Golden Boot. Need I say more about the talent he has??? Scored the most beautiful goals for Germany and a long more way to go to serve Germany in at least 3 more World Cups. Undoubtly the best youngest player. Brains with brawn. Bonus- he is cute too.

Other notable players : Honda (Japan), Park Ji Sung (South Korea), Bastian Schweinstiger (i cant spell)

The most over-rated players who showed nothing in the WC
* Lionel Messi (Argentina) - the biggest flop
* Wayne Rooney (England) - boring to death. better playing at MU than for his country
* Christiano Ronaldo (Portugal) - irritating to watch, arrogant, impulsive
* Robin van Persie (Netherlands) - expected more from this guy.
* Felipe Melo (Brazil) - scored that damned own goal which crushed and threw Brazil out of the WC

I guess thats the end of World Cup 2010. till next time in 2014 at Beautiful Brazil.

Hong Kong Part 2

Part 2 started with a 40 minute journey from north of kowloon across the world's largest suspension bridge- the Tsing Ma bridge connecting Kowloon and Lantau Island. We then checked in to the Hollywood Disney Hotel. Our holiday was mainly on budget but we decided to throw off the budget abit when booking this hotel which was absolutely awesome.

At about 10am we were there at Disneyland- like finally! The moment I've been waiting for.

at the entrance. a fountain of Mickey and other Disney characters welcomes us. Although this was supposed to be a rainy season- we thank God it was hot and shiny throughout.

On Main Street USA, we saw the summer dance bash parade with Stitch as the main character.

We also went shopping at the many shops around the area. And I bought a disney necklace.

and then after burgers at Comet Cafe, we went to Tommorowland, I went on the most scariest ride I've ever been on all my 19 years of my life- The Space Mountain roller coster. Inside was so dark, you cant see anything. It just turns and brings you upside and stops awhile and then goes up and down I think my heart stopped. My face expression says it all.

After a couple more not so nerve-wrecking rides, we headed to Adventureland.

Where we had the JUngle Cruise, climbed up over 150 stairs to get to the top of Tarzans treehouse and watched another parade.

After that, a walk over to my favourite! Fantasyland.

Everything inside seemed so magical- and almost like a fairytale adventure. The best part of Disneyland in my opinion. Also the place of the 2 best shows. Disnyelands Broadway style show which was fantastic! The lights, sounds, songs from all Disney movies was so real. And also the 3D Disney show at the Philharmagic theathre was an absolute blast. There was even a part where we got wet to make it seem so real. Awesome awesome times. Then there's fantasy Garden where we met up with all the Disney characters and take pictures with them.

However, the highlight of everything was this :

The fireworks show at 8pm. No words to describe how breathtaking it was. With the music, stars and colourful display. Just magical.

Headed back to the hotel where I had fun with the 39 channels on TV. Im totally a TV addict. Watched everything I could and slept late. They even had ESPN and Star Sports. Uruguay 2- Holland 3.

Next morning, our last day...sadly.

then at 9.30am made our way to the MTR station and over to Nong Ping 360 cable car ride. That too was kinda scary. A 25 minute ride all the way to the top of the mountain. Met a nice family from the US who was absolutely funny.

after the cable car ride, went for another dose of shopping at Citygate and bought loads. I think I've had enough shopping for clothes for now. Had to fight hard not to look at some stuff- there was 90% discount for Guess jeans!!! Dirt cheap.

Finally headed back on the 6.30pm flight. On the way saw some flights cancelled and secretly wished they would cancel our flight too. I really didnt want to go back. *sigh*

The only good thing about being back is more World Cup action. Not to mention tears as I saw Germany out from the finals. My weakness- when my team wins Im jumping around and cant sleep. When my team loses I cry and cry as if Im the one who lost. All for the love of football.

Hong Kong

Back from my 4 day 3 night trip to awesome Hong Kong. Absolutely loved the trip I didnt want to come back home. Left home soil at 7am and reached at 11am sharp at Hong Kong - first time flying by Air Asia. Was not all that bad. Slept troughout the flight except for the last 30 minutes where we could start seeing HK's skyline from the plane.

So, Day 1, checked into Dorsett Far East Hotel at North of Kowloon. The hotel looked much bigger on the website- but still it was okay. Rested fro half an hour and then walked around to look for lunch! Food in HK is one of the bestest ever in my opinion. Though my mum would disagree cause turn right, left, up, down- its such a pork fiesta (which my dad and I enjoyed!)

Then made our way to the MTR station- which Im now a pro at taking the MTR afer 4 days on it jumping from place to place. I know MTR more than i know Monorail. =) And its so damn efficient- it connects the whole of HK- even across the different islands. Very cun indeed.

First place visited was Victoria Peak.

Went all the way up to the highest lookout point in Hong Kong. The day was a lil cloudy and extremly breezy and windy. But we still managed to vatch HK's beauty. And saw a couple of cute Chinese guys- one of which I named the Brad Pitt of HK. Seriously...damn cute.

Then, we rubbed shoulders with some of the world's famous people.

Went with Nicole Kidman to a movie premiere

Met President Obama to have a chat and also the British Royalty.

And one of the most talented footballers- Ronaldinho.

I think they could have done a better work on MJ though. He doesnt look quite himself here. Nevertheless, it was an awesome opportunity to get some of these pictures. Lots more taken with other famous people as well.

Since we were pretty much tires after all the walking, we headed back and got some sleep. The night before, I stayed uo the whole night watching Germany vs Argentina- shouting at the top of my lungs for Germany. Very tiiring.

Day 2- Half day guided city tour. And had an awesome Dim Sum breakfast. I can seriously eat Dim Sum everyday for 365 days!!! I love Dim Sum.

Gorgeous view from the other side called Wan Chai. Had a view of the blue waters. Very clean and serene.

HK's version of their tugu negara- kind of. The bauhinia flower that represents their country after freedom from British invasion for 150 years- and released in 1997.

Then headed off to Repulse Bay. The place where the richest of the richest stay. Super  hi-fi area. Quite a few Americans live there too- for the benefit of 'cuci mata'.

The large brown building is where Jackie Chan lives when he is in HK - as told by our tour guide. The area has very good feng shui.

The longevity bridge. If you walk over the birdge- you will supposedly get long life. Of course I did- I want to live till 100!

At the Aberdeen fishing village- where a couple of scenes from Rush Hour movie was shot. The worlds largest floating restaurant- Jumbo Seafood was there as well. Extremly expensive. 500HK dollars for a normal meal. Didnt eat there. My dad almost fainted seeing the price.

Went shopping after lunch. It was made sale sale everywhere. Branded goods everywhere. Some imitations looked just like the original. Walked around until feet hurt. Bought some stuff.

They had a good view from the shopping mall overlooking the sea at sunset. Took the opportunity to rest and relax the aching feet while watching the sun go down.

At almost each mall they have places outside to just relax and enjoy the breeze with loads of chairs and tables. And loads of alcoholic beverages- which is way more expensive than back at home. Everything in HK is tax free except beer and wine.

Ended the day with a romantic Harbour Cruise on a big cruise ship. My first time on a ship! was absolutely amazing and the view from the upper deck was breathtakingly gorgeous after all the buildings were lighted up. Explores the ship during the almost 2 hour cruise and also enjoyed the Symphony of Lights show as the buildings were illuminated with a dazzling light display- the only synchronized show in the world.

Reached the hotel at 11pm after all the travelling an slept soundly...
